Ezio De Angelis –
Artisan floral designer in Tuscany
My experience in floral design comes from a desire to make every arrangement speak with the space that hosts it and with the people who live it. I am Ezio De Angelis, an artisan floral designer for weddings and events and the owner of La Bottega dei Fiori, a floral studio founded in Florence in 1995. For almost thirty years I have been working mainly in Tuscany, studying how flowers can change the light of a church, the breath of a villa, the atmosphere of a village or a castle. I chose this profession because I truly love flowers: their character, their seasons, the way they can express an emotion without words. I don’t see them as simple decoration, but as a living material with which to build a path. This is why I developed what I call my Method of Intentional Floral Beauty: it starts from an emotional listening of your story and of the venue, then becomes a tailor‑made floral project in harmony with season and nature and, on the day of the event, it guides the “direction” of the flowers in the key moments, so they don’t remain just in the background. My approach is based on substance. I don’t try to replicate a standard image, but to interpret the wishes of those who trust my sensitivity. I work for people who love flowers and feel that floral design is not just a way to “fill the space”, but a meaningful part of the experience. I don’t impose my taste: I listen to what you would like and translate it in my own way, each time seeking a balance between style, venue, season and real budget. Whenever the context allows it, I look for a conscious kind of beauty: I favour seasonal flowers, reduce waste and choose solutions that are kinder to the environment, because sustainability for me is not just a word, but a way of living and working. La Bottega dei Fiori is the reflection of all this: a studio where solid experience meets a contemporary vision of floral design, to create arrangements that remain in your memories with discretion and strength.
How can we start working together
If you find yourself with this perspective on flowers and events, we can start with an introductory call, a meeting in the workshop, or a discussion with your wedding planner or the venue. From there, using my Intentional Floral Beauty Method, I'll prepare a tailored floral proposal: clear, honest, and realistic, designed to enhance the venue you've chosen and what you want your guests to experience.
Frequently asked questions
Who is Ezio De Angelis and what exactly do you do?
I am an artisan floral designer based in Florence. Since 1995 I have been creating bespoke floral arrangements for weddings, private events, photo shoots and corporate occasions — mainly in Tuscany and Central Italy. I don't work in series: every project starts from a specific listening process and is made by hand, one at a time.
What is the Method of Intentional Floral Beauty?
It is the way I work, developed and refined over almost thirty years in this craft. It unfolds in three phases: first I listen to the story and the wishes of whoever contacts me, then I design a tailor-made arrangement in which every flower, colour and space has a precise reason, and finally on the day of the event I guide the floral direction moment by moment. It is not a formula — it is an approach, and it changes with every project.
Do you work only in Tuscany or in other regions too?
My base is Florence and most of my work takes place in Tuscany, but I regularly work in Umbria and the rest of Central Italy as well. I am happy to travel further when the project calls for it and the timing allows.
How does working together begin?
The starting point is always a first contact — by email, by phone or through the form on the website. From there I get a sense of whether there is a good fit, ask a few questions about the venue, the date and the atmosphere you are looking for, and put together a tailored floral proposal. Before we even talk about flowers, I need to understand what you want your guests to feel.
Do you work with wedding planners or only directly with clients?
Both work well for me. With wedding planners I already know, the process tends to flow more smoothly because we share a common language. But I also work directly with couples — in fact, direct contact with the people who will live that day is an important part of my method.
Why did you choose to work by appointment only rather than open a shop?
Because my work is not selling cut flowers. It is designing an experience. Doing it well takes time, deep listening and full focus on each individual project. A studio by appointment allows me to give every client what they deserve: undivided attention.
Do you have a sustainable approach in your work?
Yes — and for me it is not a trend word. I favour seasonal flowers, work with local suppliers whenever possible, and try to reduce waste throughout the creative process. Sustainability is part of my respect for nature, which is also the material I work with every day.
