The Architecture of the Bouquet: How Shape Defines Your Image

A Bouquet Tailored to You

When we meet in the Bottega, the question “What shape do you imagine for your bouquet?” is not a technical detail. Your bouquet is your most personal accessory: it completes the dress, balances your figure and reflects the style of the wedding. It is not something to choose only by scrolling through photos online, but a small project in floral architecture tailored to you, to your story and to the venue you have chosen in Tuscany.

Round, Hand‑Tied, Cascade: Shapes That Speak

A round, compact, symmetrical bouquet conveys a sense of order and classic elegance. It works beautifully with more structured gowns, when we are seeking a clean, almost “sketched” kind of refinement. A natural hand‑tied bouquet, on the other hand, looks as if it has just been gathered from the garden: hand‑bound stems, gentle movement, a few leaves shifting freely. It is the most loved shape for countryside weddings among vineyards, secret gardens and farmhouses overlooking the hills. Then there are cascading bouquets, with lines that flow downwards and follow the train of the dress: more theatrical choices, perfect for grand entrances in historic villas or large frescoed halls. And the most contemporary shapes – crescent, carefully studied asymmetries – play with volume and empty space, turning the bouquet into a small sculpture you carry in your hands.

Balancing Dress, Figure and Style

The shape of the bouquet does not exist in isolation: it must be in dialogue with the silhouette of the dress and with your body. With a full, important gown we can allow for more generous volumes; with a slip dress or a very minimal design, we tend towards lighter lines that accompany without covering. Height and posture also matter: a bouquet that is too large can overwhelm your figure; one that is too small risks disappearing in the photographs. In my work as a floral designer in Florence, when we design your bouquet we always imagine it in motion: how you will hold it as you walk in, how it will fall in a profile shot, how much space it will leave around the neckline of your dress, how it will sit within the overall scenography of your wedding – whether in the city, in Chianti or in Val d’Orcia. Wedding floral arrangements and event decorations in Tuscany begin, in a way, from this central element in your hands.

From Theory to Our Meeting in the Bottega

We can talk about round bouquets, natural hand‑tied designs, cascades, asymmetrical shapes or presentation bouquets – but the real choice only happens when we sit down together, look at your dress and I listen to how you picture yourself on that day. Sometimes you arrive with a very clear idea; other times, two or three sketches and a few concrete examples are enough to understand which shape makes you feel truly “at ease” with yourself. My role is to accompany you through this small project of floral architecture: a bouquet that follows you naturally from the entrance to the ceremony, from photos in the Tuscan landscape to the last toast. I work by appointment in my Bottega in Florence and in key locations across Florence, Siena, Chianti, Val d’Orcia and Central Italy, creating bridal bouquets that are not only beautiful in photos, but that genuinely feel like you. From there, your bouquet will become the final touch that completes your portrait as a bride.
