The Ethics of Living Matter: Choosing Seasonality for an Authentic Rite

Why Seasonality Is a Choice for Truth
In almost thirty years of work among flowers and Tuscan landscapes I have learned that perfection cannot be forced; it can only be welcomed. Designing an arrangement while ignoring the rhythms of the earth means chasing a surface‑level aesthetic, destined to last very little. For me, seasonality is not a commercial limit but the foundation for creating botanical architectures with soul and strength: a flower in its own time is more resilient, more vibrant, more coherent with the place that hosts it, whether it is a villa on the hills around Florence or a village between Siena and the countryside. In my work as a floral designer in Florence I have seen many times how a seasonal choice holds together beauty, ethics and peace of mind.
The Many Faces of the Seasons: Beauty That Changes Shape
Each season in Tuscany has its own character. Spring brings flowers full of light such as ranunculus, peonies and garden roses, perfect for soft, airy weddings. Summer asks for varieties capable of conversing with the sun: hydrangeas, clematis and bolder colours for outdoor tables in Chianti or Val d’Orcia. Autumn is made of dahlias, berries and warm foliage, ideal for deeper, more enveloping atmospheres. Winter, finally, works with a sense of essence: amaryllis, anemones, hellebores and structured greenery create sober, almost sculptural scenographies. Choosing seasonal flowers for your wedding floral arrangements means letting the time of year suggest the true face of your rite, instead of asking nature to play another season.
Beyond the Catalogue: Designing With What the Earth Really Offers
At La Bottega dei Fiori in Florence I do not start from a standard catalogue, but from a simple question: what does the earth genuinely offer in the period of your “yes”? Every flower has a lifespan, a resistance to heat, cold and transport. Working with off‑season varieties often means accepting more fragile stems and less reliable results. Working with the season, instead, allows us to build wedding floral arrangements in Tuscany that stay vivid and credible from the first entrance into the church or villa until the last toast. It is a discreet form of luxury in floral design in Tuscany: that flower, in that exact moment, exists only then.
A Wedding That Speaks of Its Time and Place
Choosing seasonality is also a way of rooting your wedding in the landscape you have chosen: a garden in Florence, a villa in Chianti, a historic estate in the countryside. Flowers become a story of time and place, not an abstract image. If this language feels close to you, we can design together a floral design in Tuscany that respects nature, budget and style: starting from your date and your location, we will build a seasonal vision tailored to you, able to gently accompany your rite. I receive by appointment in my Bottega in Florence, where we can calmly imagine the botanical scenography that best reflects your way of living with nature.
If you feel that this way of looking at flowers and at your day in Tuscany resonates with you, everything can begin with a calm conversation, without rush or pressure. I work by appointment in my Bottega in Florence and across Tuscany, so that every project has the measure and care it deserves. Together we can design your wedding floral arrangements step by step, letting seasonality, the landscape and your story speak with honesty.
